I have to ask, lighting and equipment?

Thank you! :)
Sorry, I didn't write the equipment in the description :)
The lighting is nothing special, this is shot through a beauty mirror that was surrounded by light bulbs, half of them were on and the other half off.
As for the equipment, I used a Canon 7D with the 50mm 1.8 lens :)

Bohemian beauty.
Great portrait.
The transparent beauty that prevails here is of no serious consequence or for that art. It's what you do with the photo, the image. The rest you can find in fashion magazines i guess. Best to go maybe in another direction. Why not. To be one of many or one of a few.
This reminds me of the great sculptress Louise Nevelson.

wow. Louise Nevelson! I love what she does!
I rarely like the portraits in fashion magazines(but there are a few fashion photographers that do their job nicely. Technically, they're good and colorful, that's why they attract a lot of attention.

Thought you would enjoy Nevelson, she was pretty wild, both in her art and in her personal style. She was stunning old gal. The poses she struck were intense. Staring into the camera with a look, like she knew what was happening. Her sculptures are gorgeous.

I guess I was really generalizing about the shots in fashion mags. Many great photographers started out there. But maybe just mentioning for today's kind of over saturation of sexy gals everywhere in mags, ads etc. and barely tell the difference between all the faces and bodies. One reason i like shooting photos of inanimate objects. Maybe weird but easier to set up the shot. But I'm a painter, paint flows easier sometimes.

Yeah, I'm still looking at her art, it's always good to know valuable artists.
You're right, there's something about today's kind of art in fashion magazines and not only, it seems to me that they don't give it their all, they just do something because it needs to be done, hence the sexy girls and overexposure. It's mainly their decision, but other people like art directors may interfere, too. And when there's no communication, there's no good final product.
I like shooting inanimate objects, too, but my main purpose is, i think, to express what i want to express through a person's face, action, hair, etc.
I've seen your paintings. I think they're really good. They have that original feel, that..well, I don't know how to call it, but I usually like non figurative and surrealist works.

Look more. I did after i wrote you. Had been awhile. Plus i love her poses, her look. She was something. When i studied painting i made some Nevelsons as I called them. Just to see if i could.

You shoot humans well, ha.... humans, folk, people, persons
figures on the rise.
i like many of your portraits. Some of that attractive female model are quite revealing. The faces speak. Well done. You capture a look. Like a still from a moving picture on some cartwheel spinning. I studied with some great photographers, but at the time it seemed impossible to capture a face like you do. but was the game, but when we all hung out in the cafes and bars of North Beach i watched the photographers, they were always looking, the painters, we were all lost in something before us, a drawing, a book, a drink, a girl, a boy or the smoke filtering up from someone's ashtray.
Now over the years i have hit and miss with people shots. But maybe fear of that and why i love to shoot old buildings and such.

thanks for the nice words on the painting. In a good paint period now. The paint flys well. All i can ask sometimes.
